The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is a leader in action who guides their department to deliver the established plan as efficiently as possible, by appropriating the standard management systems on a daily basis, particularly in terms of workplace health and safety and quality, cleanliness and food safety.
Under the responsibility of the Production Supervisor, you are responsible for the coordination and performance of your department. You will operate by organizing according to established standards (productivity, costs and product quality) in order to meet shipping deadlines. You participate in the improvement of performance and operational standards and ensure compliance with the company's policies and procedures (good manufacturing practices, SST and HACCP).
Main Responsibilities
- Validate and organize daily receiving and shipping operations of products, including documents such as delivery notes, exports, etc.
- Load and unload trucks on a daily schedule with overtime as needed.
- Communicate with people authorized for orders, deliveries and transport as needed.
- Check daily with your supervisor if other operations will be required to complete your shift.
- Use the technological tools in place (computer, scan gun, software programs).
- Make computer checks or adjustments to the accuracy of the finished product inventory.
- Ensure that forms are compliant and properly completed, inform your immediate supervisor of non-compliance and perform the necessary follow-ups.
- Collaborate with other departments (quality control, maintenance and US inspections) responsible for testing, analysis, and inspection of equipment, processes and products.
- Perform certain tasks related to quality control before shipping finished products.
- Assist in the monthly inventory of named consumable products with the person assigned, at the end of each month.
- Perform any other related tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
General Skills
- Relevant experience in shipping-receiving, preferably in the food industry
- Hold a valid, up-to-date forklift driver's license.
- Demonstrate leadership, initiative, autonomy and availability;
- Be able to communicate constructively and positively;
- Be a role model by being punctual, diligent, versatile and methodical;
- Excellent judgment and effective time and priority management
- Tolerance for stress and ability to work under pressure
- Knowledge of Canada GAP standards is a strong asset, as is knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GFSI) and workplace health and safety
