The incumbent's main objective is to coordinate, organize, and motivate the team under their responsibility to ensure that preventive maintenance and general equipment repair work is carried out on schedule to meet availability objectives, while taking into account workplace health and safety, product quality, sustainable development, the environment, productivity, and workplace relations.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise staff to optimize productivity;
  • Maintain equipment availability;
  • Adhere to maintenance schedules, both preventive and repairs;
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair schedules with various services while considering the main objective;
  • Participate in planning the list of work to be performed during shutdown periods;
  • Control the distribution of various safety equipment to employees under their responsibility (hard hats, gloves, disposable clothing, safety glasses, etc.);
  • Control the purchase or replacement of tools according to the collective agreement for employees under their responsibility (keep an up-to-date list of each locker);
  • Conduct joint accident or incident investigations for employees under their responsibility and report to the concerned parties within the prescribed timeframe;
  • Conduct joint inspections in their sector, report, and follow up;
  • Conduct investigations into potential grievances of employees under their responsibility and report to the concerned parties within the prescribed timeframe;
  • Prepare and organize a weekly health and safety meeting with employees under their responsibility;
  • Take charge of break-in work;
  • Prepare requisitions for the purchase of equipment;
  • Ensure that store exits are completed as they occur;
  • Ensure that necessary daily reports (RPI, SAP, etc.) are completed and that work costs are coded to the appropriate cost center;
  • Manage overtime requests;
  • Conduct evaluations of employees under their responsibility (at 150, 300, and 450 first hours and annually) and forward the evaluation to their supervisor and the personnel department;
  • Consult their supervisor for the application of disciplinary sanctions to employees under their responsibility;
  • Perform weekend shifts according to the established schedule;
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by their supervisor in relation to the position.

PROFILE REQUIRED

  • Hold a technical or university degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in supervising personnel in the mining or industrial sector;
  • Be able to establish healthy workplace relationships with unionized employee teams;
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Be available to work on a rotating night/day/night shift schedule (7-5-5-4).
  • Hold an explosives permit or obtain one before the start of training;
  • Be able to successfully complete all required internal tests and training for the position.

This position is offered as permanent. We can guide you towards available resources on the islands. (Shuttle schedule or "fly-in fly-out" not available).
