To start a career at Construction of Defence Canada (CDC), you must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. As a condition of employment at CDC, it is necessary to hold at least a reliability clearance. Some roles may require you to hold a Secret level security clearance.
*CDC is responsible for the personnel security clearance process.* Generally, to be eligible for a "reliability" clearance, you must be able to provide verifiable general information about the past five years, and to be eligible for a "secret" level security clearance, you must be able to provide verifiable general information about the past ten years. This process usually involves reference checks as well as verification of skills, criminal record, and financial solvency (if needed), and may require fingerprinting. For more information on obtaining a security clearance, please consult the Security Clearance Standard.
It is essential to possess the appropriate security clearance to obtain employment at CDC. Furthermore, it is the candidate's or employee's responsibility to ensure that they can obtain and maintain the required level of security clearance to start or continue their employment at CDC. If a candidate or employee is unable to obtain or maintain the required level of security clearance, they will not receive a job offer, a conditional offer will be declared null and void, or their employment will be terminated due to a justified dismissal. For all candidates and employees, the security clearance process is conducted using a rigorous method that includes investigations, verifications, and evaluations regarding the following, among others:
- Criminal record;
- References;
- Previous employment;
- Open sources;
- Credit/financial situation.
The CDC Code of Ethics (Code) is a condition of employment. This enhances public trust in the integrity of CDC employees and provides employees with guidance on certain issues, including real or potential conflicts of interest. Before applying for this position (or any other position) at CDC, candidates must familiarize themselves with the Code. Indeed, new employees are required to attest that they have read and understood the Code and confirm their compliance with the Code's requirements from the start of their employment at CDC. Employees are also required to review their obligations under the Code and inform the President's Office of any changes in their situation as soon as possible and complete the annual review once a year.
Join a diverse and inclusive workplace!
Positions offered by DCC require different levels of security clearance, including "Reliability", "Secret", "Top Secret", and "Canadian Citizens Only" (nationality verification required). Although we accept applications from non-Canadian nationals who are authorized to work in Canada and have at least 5 years of verifiable experience, selection will depend on the specific requirements of the position in question.
At CDC, we are committed to ensuring that everyone can express themselves and be authentic here. We actively encourage applications from all, including, but not limited to, women, Indigenous people, people with disabilities, visible minorities, and LGBTQ2+ community members.
