- The Opportunity
As a Commercial Underwriter Intermediate, you will play a key role in managing and developing a portfolio of standard commercial business. You will be responsible for evaluating risks, making informed underwriting decisions, and providing quality support to partner brokers.
This position offers a great combination of autonomy, technical development, and collaboration within a dynamic team. What You'll Do
- Evaluate, analyze, and price standard commercial risks, taking into account internal policies, risk appetite, and profitability goals.
- Manage renewals, new business, and endorsements (modifications, guarantee adjustments, special conditions, etc.) independently.
- Ensure the quality, accuracy, and compliance of files according to internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a resource person for brokers and support them in structuring solutions tailored to their clients' needs.
- Develop and maintain strong and lasting business relationships with partner brokers.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including risk engineering, to identify trends and support decision-making.
- Contribute to achieving the portfolio's profitable growth objectives.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You'll Bring
- College or university degree in property and casualty insurance (AEC, DEC, or BAC).
- 2 to 3 years of experience in commercial insurance or commercial underwriting.
- Excellent command of French, both spoken and written.
- Good knowledge of computer tools and insurance management systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with brokers and internal partners.
- Autonomy, diligence, and ability to manage multiple files effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Analytical mindset, professional judgment, and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines.
My Unique Advantage
- Professional insurance designation (PAA) in progress or completed.
- Experience in negotiation and close collaboration with brokers, in a partner and solution-oriented approach.
- Knowledge or exposure to specialized segments in commercial insurance.
- Strong interest in portfolio trend analysis and interfunctional collaboration (e.g., risk engineering).
- Strong results-oriented mindset, with a constant focus on profitability and sound portfolio management.
