Description

We are looking for a reliable, warm, and experienced person to accompany a person with Alzheimer's disease at home. The position involves providing quality personal care and support with household tasks in a calm and secure environment, promoting the well-being and dignity of the assisted person.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Assist the person with personal hygiene (toilet, bath, basic care)
  • Help with dressing
  • Manage and track medication according to the prescribed schedule
  • Prepare meals considering specific dietary needs
  • Perform general household cleaning (kitchen, bathroom, living areas)
  • Do laundry and maintain clothing and bedding
  • Provide a reassuring and kind presence, taking into account the particularities of Alzheimer's disease (routine, adapted communication, management of anxiety or confusion)
  • Be available to work approximately 40 hours per week for about 6 weeks per year

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a home care aide or in a similar role (mandatory)
  • Health care training or certification as a home care aide (DEP or AEC, an asset)
  • Good ability to manage medications safely and rigorously
  • Sense of organization, autonomy, and reliability
  • Excellent communication and caregiving skills
  • Patience, empathy, and discretion
  • Verifiable professional references
  • Confirmed availability according to the requested schedule (1 weekend every 2 weeks + 1-2 evenings per week)
  • Up-to-date or available criminal record check
  • Valid work permit
  • Valid driver's license
  • Assets
  • Training in Alzheimer's care or neurocognitive disorders
  • Experience with complex medication or pill organizers
  • Certification in RCR / first aid, PDSB
  • Culinary experience or knowledge of specific diets (modified texture, diabetes, etc.)
  • Personal Qualities Sought

  • Sense of responsibility and discretion
  • Ability to adapt to behaviors related to the disease
  • Punctuality and reliability
