Linux SME – Migration to Azure Cloud

Hours per week: Approximately 20 hours per week (2 to 3 days/week)

Job Type: Hybrid – 1 day per week in-person at the downtown Montreal office (Wednesday)

Duration of the assignment: 3 to 6 months (until December 18, 2026), with the possibility of full-time

About the Position

We are looking for a Linux SME (Subject Matter Expert) to support an important project to modernize IT infrastructure and migrate to a hybrid Azure Cloud environment.

You will be responsible for evaluating the existing Linux environment, defining the migration strategy, and supporting internal teams throughout the project. You will act as a technical expert to ensure a secure and effective transition of Linux servers currently hosted on Hyper-V infrastructure to Azure services, including Azure App Service.

This assignment is ideal for an independent Linux expert with strong experience in architecture, cloud migration, and technical documentation.

Main Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of IT experience
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Linux administrator or expert
• Practical experience in migrating infrastructures to the Cloud
• Strong experience with Linux environments
• Good knowledge of:
• + Apache Tomcat
• + Java
• + PostgreSQL
• + OpenLDAP
• + Hyper-V
• Good understanding of Azure architectures, including Azure App Service
• Excellent technical documentation skills
• Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills
• French spoken and written (5/5)

Objectives and Deliverables

• Conduct a comprehensive diagnosis of the existing Linux environment
• Define a migration strategy to hybrid Azure Cloud
• Produce architecture and documentation deliverables
• Support technical teams during migration phases
• Reduce risks associated with the transition to the Cloud

Main Responsibilities

• Inventory of servers, applications, and Linux dependencies
• Evaluate existing infrastructures and identify risks
• Produce a detailed status report of the Linux environment
• Develop a migration roadmap to Azure
• Define target architectures and best practices
• Document procedures, configurations, and technical recommendations
• Support internal teams in planning and executing migrations
• Provide expert-level technical support throughout the project
• Contribute to the success of the transformation to a hybrid Azure environment

• Experience in infrastructure modernization projects
• Knowledge of hybrid Cloud architectures
• Experience with complex and critical Linux environments
