Provide exceptional service to current and potential BMO clients. Determine client needs and provide advice and counsel regarding financial solutions that are in the best interest of the client. Work collaboratively with BMO partners within the branch and through various channels to deliver the desired customer experience and achieve overall objectives.
- Proactively communicate with current and potential clients by conducting need-based evaluations to increase loyalty and target immediate and future opportunities.
- Conduct comprehensive client need assessments to identify suitable financial solutions and banking channels, while recommending tailored solutions that meet their product and service needs (e.g., current banking services, individual investments, credit solutions, home financing [including self-employed worker applications] and small business solutions).
- Advise clients on digital and self-service options that will make banking transactions user-friendly, simple, and fast.
- Respond to client transaction needs based on demand.
- Encourage clients to grow their relationship with BMO by communicating with them, scheduling appointments, and establishing new connections within the community.
- Address questions and resolve issues raised during Credit to Individuals quality checks and controls to confirm the accuracy of entered data and credit recommendations, in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and bank policies and processes.
- Apply the risk management framework to portfolio to protect the Bank's assets and maintain the quality of the credit portfolio, in accordance with the credit approval process requirements and established guidelines on yield, quality, diversification, and risk.
- Make recommendations regarding individual credit transactions, including home financing, that are in accordance with sound credit lending principles and the Bank's policies and procedures.
- Act as a key member of a collaborative and versatile team in the branch and local area.
- Seek to understand the needs of clients for personal banking services and credit cards and integrate promotional offers and marketing programs into client consultations to provide strategic advice.
- Organize information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Take the initiative to apply creative approaches to add a human dimension to each customer experience.
- Look for ways to participate in the continuous improvement of the overall customer experience.
- Contribute to business results and the overall experience offered.
- As needed, fulfill your duties in multiple branches and through various channels according to market needs; the work schedule may vary from week to week, in terms of days, hours, and shifts.
- Monitor risk and compliance policies and processes to protect clients' assets and their confidentiality and act in their best interest.
- Stay informed about what is happening in the overall financial services market, legislation, and regulation, as well as our commitment to meeting the sector's most rigorous ethical requirements.
- Keep your knowledge up-to-date on banking products, practices, and trends, and incorporate them into client consultations.
- Identify and report any suspicious practices that may be associated with money laundering.
- Comply with the legal and regulatory requirements of the territory.
- Protect the Bank's assets in accordance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements.
- Refer complex or unresolved client situations to managers, if necessary.
- Perform complex and diverse tasks in accordance with established rules and limits; manage requests for escalation to higher levels of other employees, as needed.
- Analyze problems and determine next steps.
- Broader tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
- Take measured risks while protecting the Bank by applying our risk management framework in the performance of your duties, in accordance with our risk management culture and our approved risk appetite, making risk-informed decisions that align with business strategy, protect assets, and comply with applicable policy documents (frameworks, policies, standards, procedures, and related documents), laws, and regulations.
Qualifications
- Generally two to three years of relevant professional experience with a post-secondary degree in a related field desirable, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Obtained a title allowing the sale of investment products – in accordance with territorial requirements.
- Appropriate credit and title qualifications.
- Practical knowledge of the needs of individual and small business clients and related solutions.
- Practical knowledge of individual investment products and credit products.
- Financial services experience, an asset.
- Proficiency and experience in using social media, tablets, smartphones, online tools, and applications.
- Experience in sales or consultative customer service, associated with a great motivation to offer a personalized customer experience.

- $38,500.00 - $71,000.00

The above represents the salary range and type of compensation offered by BMO Financial Group.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the position and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time positions will be calculated on a prorated basis for the number of regularly worked hours. For commission-based roles, the aforementioned salary represents BMO Financial Group's target for the first year in the position.
The total compensation offered by BMO will vary according to the type of compensation associated with the position and may include performance bonuses, discretionary bonuses, as well as other benefits and rewards.
