Description

Person whose main functions are to install, commission, troubleshoot, inspect, repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment.

She makes the necessary recommendations for their proper functioning, including their safety aspect. She may also, if necessary, perform similar tasks on industrial-type electronic equipment. She covers all services of the establishment.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities

  • Proceeds with the installation, verification, and calibration of medical equipment and ensures optimal and safe operation of these before and during clinical use,
  • Carries out preventive and corrective maintenance of these equipment,
  • Documents, in a clear manner, each intervention for future consultation,
  • Participates in the evaluation process during the acquisition of medical equipment,
  • Informs the establishment's staff of the risks and dangers to themselves or the patient regarding certain medical equipment,
  • Acts as an intermediary between clinical staff and manufacturers,
  • Acts as a trainer or super-user to clinical staff regarding the methods and procedures for using technologies,
  • Participates in specific training for medical equipment technical support and general training sessions on practices and standards in the field,
  • Transmits the information and knowledge acquired during training to colleagues,

Requirements

  • Hold a college diploma (DEC) in electronics technology such as electronics technologies, ordered systems technologies, or industrial electronics technologies from a recognized school by the competent ministry.
  • Two years of experience in a biomedical engineering service in a hospital would be an asset
  • Successful completion of a selection process (written test and practical test).
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Available to travel abroad for technical training.
  • Hold a biomedical engineering certificate from Polytechnique School would be an asset.
