A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CARPENTER

As a carpenter, every day brings new challenges and the opportunity to create something lasting. You will be involved from start to finish in the construction of walls, the installation of doors, the placement of floor coverings, and the finishes that transform a job site into a completed space. You will carefully read the plans, take precise measurements, and ensure that every detail meets quality and safety standards. You will share your knowledge with other team members to maintain group cohesion and the smooth progress of projects. Whether you are solving problems on the job site, teaching a new technique, or adding the final touch to a freshly restored room, your expertise and pride in well-done work will make every project a success.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in construction, carpentry, or restoration
  • Enrollment or completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program, an asset
  • Proven ability to read plans and apply construction mathematics to make precise measurements and plan materials
  • Skills in drywall, framing, finishing, and door, moldings, and cabinet installation
  • Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools and the ability to maintain a clean and safe job site
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to lead others
  • Proficiency in the use of mobile devices and Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid driver's license of all categories and clean criminal record, as needed
  • Safety adjustment test and other safety certifications
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and participate in a shift rotation system
  • Ability to perform tasks involving the handling of materials, lifting, climbing, and the use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, safety shoes, and other required equipment
