RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Civil Operations, the Senior Project Director - Marine Works is responsible for the development of maritime projects in Quebec and the execution of projects that he has submitted and won.

The Senior Project Director plans, directs, organizes, coordinates, and controls the execution of construction projects in marine, coastal, or river environments, in compliance with the technical, environmental, contractual, and regulatory requirements specific to this type of work.

In this capacity, the Senior Project Director - Marine Works will be particularly responsible for:

  • Leading the development of maritime expertise and identifying business opportunities aligned with the organization's strategic planning;
  • Preparing bids and executing maritime works projects (wharves, jetties, breakwaters, revetments, dredging, barges, submerged structures, etc.);
  • Directing Directors, Project Managers, and Superintendents, and ensuring that work on sites complies with standards, contractual requirements, and quality, safety, environmental, schedule, and cost objectives, by implementing corrective measures as needed;
  • Accompanying teams in the design of permanent maritime structures, under various contractual arrangements, in close collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Supervising, mentoring, and optimizing work and execution methods for maritime works, both on his own projects and on other assignments requiring this expertise within the organization.
  • Negotiating agreements with specialized subcontractors (maritime, dredging, divers, floating equipment, etc.), signing letters of intent after discussion with the Vice President, reviewing contracts, and authorizing them in accordance with company policies;
  • Assisting the Vice President in negotiating contractual terms with clients, particularly in relation to technical, environmental, and operational risks of maritime projects;
  • Monthly analysis, with Project Managers under his responsibility, of cost control and project progress reports, and reporting to the Vice President;
  • Assigning personnel to sites and ensuring effective management of human resource productivity, including specialized maritime teams and aquatic operations;
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction by adhering to safety, cost, schedule, quality, and environmental protection requirements;
  • Ensuring the rigorous application of the company's health and safety budget as well as prevention programs specific to marine work;
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements specific to maritime works (port authorities, ministries, environmental permits, navigation, etc.);
  • Applying the company's quality system in accordance with ISO standards and monitoring procedures with execution teams;
  • Being responsible for job start-up meetings, periodic progress meetings, planning reviews, post-mortem meetings, and lessons learned;
  • Discussing legal matters, claims, or disputes related to projects with the Vice President and ensuring appropriate documentation;
  • Evaluating personnel under his responsibility in accordance with company policies and actively contributing to their professional development;
  • Performing any other tasks related to the execution of his mandate.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction engineering;
  • 15 years of relevant experience in construction project management;
  • Relevant experience in maritime project construction;
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project software;
  • Bilingual (important asset).
