The Compensation and Recognition team within the Human Resources Service designs and supports evolving compensation and recognition programs to ensure KPMG remains a premier firm and to support tomorrow's workforce. The team supports, monitors, and analyzes the competitiveness of direct compensation, including base pay and variable pay, as well as key recognition programs through the Achievers platform.

What You Will Do

The Director supervises the work of non-managerial staff within the Compensation and Recognition team and works with the leadership team to establish activity priorities. This person is responsible for providing workplace leadership and developing processes, models, and templates that the Compensation and Recognition team specialists must follow in performing their tasks. They handle the most complex activities and have operational responsibility for two or more large-scale programs within the function or firm. They work directly with vendors and internal stakeholders and assist the leadership and Human Resources teams in achieving compensation and recognition strategic, compensation, and recognition goals.

This role requires a strong knowledge of data and attention to detail, as well as solid written and oral communication skills.

It may include personnel management responsibilities, either for one or two specialists or principal specialists.

More specifically, you will:

  • Develop models and templates to better understand program trends (e.g., costs, usage, return on invested capital, etc.) and implement the annual compensation planning and approval process during the summer and fall.
  • Identify and resolve issues or improvement opportunities in programs, flag concerns to program managers, and provide information to program managers.
  • Support the leadership of the Compensation and Recognition team in analyzing and preparing information for presentation to clients (Audit, Tax, Advisory, or Operations Team) and in developing or revising compensation programs.
  • Supervise escalations within programs through ServiceNow and the global Compensation team's functional mailbox. Make recommendations to program managers to reduce requests or improve the employee experience.

What You Bring to the Role

  • College or university degree in human resources, business administration, or any other related arts or sciences degree.
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive and relevant experience in global compensation (compensation or benefits), HR information systems, finance, or HR (generalist).
  • Critical thinking and proven problem-solving skills. Statistical sense, and a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The achievement of the World@Work Certified Professional in Compensation (CPP) title, or an equivalent title, is an asset.

The successful candidate must be proficient in written and oral English, as they will support a national team and stakeholders across Canada.

Salary Scale – Ontario

The anticipated base salary scale for this position is $74,000 to $111,000, with possible bonuses. A candidate's or candidate's compensation is determined based on their location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. In addition to compensation, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits program.
