Apprentice Mechanic in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning

• Tasks
• Install and service heating systems
• Install refrigeration systems
• Install ventilation, air handling, and air conditioning systems
• Interpret plans or other instructions to plan methods or sequences of operations
• Measure and determine reference points for installation
• Read plans or other instructions to determine work requirements
• Troubleshoot heating systems
• Troubleshoot ventilation, air handling, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems
• Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components
• Supervise apprentices and teach them the trade
• Measure and cut pipes and connect them by welding or soldering
• Provide customer service
• Put installations into operation and subject them to leak tests using test equipment

Perform maintenance tasks such as filling the refrigeration system with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators, or calibrating the system

Interpret the gas code

Handle, recover, and store refrigerants

Repair and replace parts and components of complete refrigeration, air conditioning, and ventilation installations, including thermodynamic heating installations
