Optometric Assistant

Our clinic, Visique Outremont, is looking for someone like you who will leverage your exceptional skills and experience within our team as an optometric assistant. In this role, you will improve the lives of our patients every day by providing exceptional vision and eyewear experiences in a dynamic, enriching, and collaborative environment.

This is a part-time position, with a work schedule of 20 to 29 hours per week. Our clinic is open Monday through Friday.

What you will do

• Welcome patients to the clinic, accompany them upon arrival and departure, and communicate with them in person, by phone, and by email
• Perform pretests to support comprehensive eye care
• Inform patients about eyewear options that suit their lifestyle and help them choose frames to ensure optimal value, quality, aesthetics, and performance
• Interpret optical prescriptions provided by the optometrist
• Perform measurements and necessary adjustments to ensure the comfort, proper fit, and positioning of new glasses, as well as required repairs
• Coordinate appointments and prepare prescription prints
• Manage patient, insurance, and third-party billing and payments
• Assist with corneal lens adjustments and lens orders
• Provide a memorable customer service experience, ensuring a positive experience for patients
• Support clinic operations by completing other tasks as needed

What you bring

• Previous experience in the optical field is considered an asset
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for patient interaction and providing an exceptional experience
• Collaborative, adaptable, and proactive team spirit, with a growth mindset and the ability to manage changing priorities effectively
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in technology and computer tools, including MS Office suite
