Position Overview

dormakaba is seeking an Operator Pick & Place 1 based in Montreal. The Operator Pick & Place 1 is responsible for supporting Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production activities, including setting up and operating SMT equipment, screen printers, and reflow ovens. This role ensures the timely availability of materials and components required for production, performs inventory transactions, and contributes to meeting quality, productivity, and operational objectives.

Hourly Rate: $20.38 - $23.44/hour AI Disclosure: No automated screening tools will be used during the application process

What you will do

  • Operate and monitor SMT (Surface Mount Technology) assembly line equipment to ensure efficient production flow
  • Review production schedules, work orders, and operating procedures, and follow verbal and written instructions to meet quality and production requirements
  • Set up, operate, and oversee equipment used in the cleaning of printed wiring board (PWB) assemblies
  • Perform visual inspection of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and assemblies to verify compliance with quality standards
  • Complete and maintain accurate production, quality, and inventory records
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on production equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Support material handling activities, including replenishment of components and inventory transactions
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and operational procedures within the SMT department
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

What we require

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 1–2 years of experience operating computerized SMT Pick-and-Place equipment in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to identify and handle SMT components accurately
  • Experience with Juki SMT equipment is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of IPC standards and electronic assembly best practices is considered an asset
  • Availability to work overtime as required to support production demands
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong manual dexterity and good visual acuity
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
