Position
Reporting to the Executive Director of Construction, the Installation Manager is responsible for the proper execution of the installation phase of projects assigned to them; ensures complete supervision of the installation. They are responsible for meeting contractual deliverables related to installation and achieving objectives in health and safety, quality, costs, schedules, and customer satisfaction. They act as the main point of contact for the client on the job site.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage installation projects from start to finish, ensuring that scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are met.
- Review drawings and technical specifications to plan site activities.
- Develop detailed installation plans, work breakdown structures, and resource allocation strategies.
- Coordinate activities with engineering teams, procurement, construction, project management, and commissioning teams.
- Anticipate risks and implement measures to mitigate them.
- Provide regular updates on progress, issues, resource needs, and quickly resolve problems.
- Coordinate the transfer to commissioning and operational teams.
- Supervise and support installation teams, subcontractors, and site supervisors.
- Conduct daily site meetings, assign tasks, and ensure optimal use of labor.
- Promote a culture of health, safety, accountability, and excellence.
- Ensure compliance with SST (occupational health and safety) policies. Conduct safety talks, audits, and risk analyses, as well as related documentation.
- Ensure all installation activities are carried out in accordance with the company's safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, inspectors, and internal stakeholders.
- Supervise quality assurance and control processes on-site related to equipment assembly, alignment, and commissioning. Verify that installations meet design specifications and functional requirements.
- Keep installation files up to date, issue progress reports, and quality reports.
- Maintain clear and complete files including installation procedures, inspection reports, non-conformity reports, and commissioning progress documentation.
Requirements
- DEC or BACC in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, or in an equivalent technical field.
- Holding a trade certification (e.g., electrician) is an asset.
- Certification or competence in lifting and rigging is an asset.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Commitment to excellence in health and safety and quality.
- Flexibility to work in demanding site environments and be available for frequent travel.
- Strong communication and team coordination skills.
- Advanced English writing and speaking skills (used daily due to our clients primarily located in Western Canada and the United States).
