Description

Reporting to the Regional Fleet Manager, the Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance activities of a fleet of over 300 vehicles, while leading a team of 8 to 12 qualified technicians. The Fleet Operations Manager provides both strategic and operational support to the Regional Fleet Manager regarding vehicle maintenance planning, parts procurement, warranty management, and vendor coordination across multiple repair shops.

The Fleet Operations Manager will play a key role in maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and performance, minimizing vehicle downtime, and promoting continuous improvement within the fleet management team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily maintenance activities across multiple garages, ensuring repairs and preventive maintenance are carried out efficiently and on schedule.
• Lead and support the fleet technician team: performance management, workload distribution, and on-site involvement through regular shop visits.
• Oversee parts and supplies procurement and management, maintaining adequate inventory to minimize downtime.
• Handle warranty claims (using the 3 C method) and track credits, amounts, and discounts with vendors.
• Ensure the selection, coordination, and continuous evaluation of third-party vendors supporting vehicle maintenance and repairs.
• Manage the workshop budget (labor, parts, supplies) to ensure profitable operations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and compliance with regulations.
• Serve as the point of contact for District Managers, Unit Managers, drivers, and other stakeholders to address vehicle concerns, provide updates, and ensure good communication between departments.
• Analyze maintenance costs, vehicle performance, and other metrics to identify trends and improve operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Regularly travel to different workshops to meet with the team and conduct on-site evaluations (one visit per garage per month planned).

Requirements and Qualifications

• College diploma or equivalent training.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in vehicle fleet management, automotive repair shop, automotive environment, or branch operations.
• Proven experience in vendor management, customer service, and warranty processes.
• Experience in managing service or maintenance teams: hiring, training, performance management.
• More than 3 years of direct experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Good understanding of continuous improvement methods, including 5S.
• Proficiency in general computer tasks, including MS Office suite.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage operational and administrative priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret various documents (safety rules, usage and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals) and write regular reports.
• Language Requirement:

English proficiency is required for this position due to frequent communications in English with various stakeholders. This requirement is justified by the nature of the responsibilities and operational needs.
