Who are we?
The Maison des jeunes de Repentigny is a dynamic living environment that supports young people aged 12 to 17 in their personal, social, and civic development. As part of a youth crime prevention project, we are looking for a youth worker to ensure a significant presence at Espace COMM, located inside Jean-Baptiste-Meilleur Secondary School.
Under the supervision of the project coordination, the person holding the position acts as a resource person at the Espace COMM of Jean-Baptiste-Meilleur Secondary School. They ensure a significant presence among the youth to build trust, identify vulnerable situations, and provide first-line psychosocial support.
By actively being present in the school's common areas and its surroundings, particularly during mealtime, the youth worker approaches the young people to observe the dynamics of the environment, identify risky behaviors, and intervene preventively. This close work allows the youth worker to join the adolescents in their daily environment and facilitate early identification of needs.
Following these initial contacts, the youth worker welcomes the young people at Espace COMM to offer individual meetings, animate activities and prevention workshops, support the development of their personal and social skills, and guide them towards appropriate resources when necessary.
The person also works closely with school staff, community partners, and other stakeholders in the environment to ensure the continuity of services and a coordinated intervention that meets the needs of the young people.
Main Responsibilities
- Approach adolescents spontaneously and build significant trust.
- Quickly identify young people presenting risk factors or facing personal, family, social, or school difficulties.
- Conduct individual support, listening, prevention, and awareness interventions.
- Animate workshops and activities that promote social skills, conflict resolution, emotion management, violence prevention, and cohabitation.
- Ensure daily presence in the school's common areas, mainly during mealtime.
- Refer young people to specialized resources when necessary.
- Collaborate closely with the school administration, professionals, teachers, school intervenors, community organizations, and the Repentigny City Police Service.
- Participate in consultation meetings, clinical meetings, and intervention plans when required.
- Maintain files, write intervention notes, and compile project statistics.
- Participate in the continuous evaluation of the project and propose improvement suggestions.
- Perform any other tasks related to the mandate and the needs of the organization.

- We are looking for a person who:
- Possesses excellent ability to quickly build relationships with adolescents.
- Is not afraid to approach young people and establish contact with them.
- Is capable of communicating both with young people and school staff and partners.
- Demonstrates autonomy, initiative, and excellent clinical judgment.
- Is recognized for their listening, empathy, and ability to defuse tense situations.
- Enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team.
- Is organized and rigorous in writing follow-ups and compiling statistics.
- Is able to adapt their intervention to the realities of adolescents.
Requirements
- College diploma (DEC) or bachelor's degree in specialized education, social work, psychoeducation, criminology, psychosocial intervention, or any other relevant training.
- Experience in intervention with adolescents (a significant asset).
- Participate in the activities of the Maison des jeunes by ensuring a presence as an intervenor three evenings a week.
- Good mastery of computer tools.
- Good writing skills.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle (mandatory).
- Satisfactory criminal record check.

- $23 per hour minimum
- Job Type
Fixed-term contract for two (2) years linked to the realization of the project.
30 hours per week minimum
Schedule
Monday to Friday, according to the school calendar.
