What is the impact of the role on the organization?
Within the Trust Operations team, the Senior Trust Advisor will report to the Associate Vice President, Trust Operations. You are results-oriented, capable of managing a portfolio of successor and trust accounts, while serving as a role model for the Trust Advisors and Trust Administrators in the team. You will ensure that our partners and their clients receive superior service at all times, while building and maintaining strong relationships with your internal RJL partners and external influence center partners.
What will the role holder be responsible for?
- Establish strategic relationships with influence centers, such as lawyers, accountants, and wealth managers, to enhance their knowledge and willingness to collaborate with our trust activities in the best interest of their high-net-worth clients;
- Act in the best interest of clients at all times, providing them with a level of service and support tailored to their needs and those of their families, for all aspects of managing their accounts (as trustee and agent);
- Manage and oversee the fast, accurate, and professional administration of complex succession, trust, and power of attorney matters, as well as succession, trust, and power of attorney fee-based advisory services;
- Exercise the discretionary powers set out in the will, trust deed, or power of attorney for clients to whom CTS has obtained authorization;
- Manage the companies held by the account, which may include board of directors decisions, shareholder meetings, coordination of financial statement preparation, etc.;
- Act in accordance with CTS's policies and procedures, ensuring that all new business is reviewed and approved in accordance with policy;
- Collaborate with various departments, including Compliance, Operations, Legal Affairs, and other related services, to resolve issues related to system, administration, risk management, and legal matters in the context of account management;
- Participate in audit activities, including supervision of business units, internal audits, and regulatory audits and examinations, as applicable;
- Participate in the review and discussion of discretionary decisions made on behalf of CTS;
- Participate in the creation, modification, and implementation of policies and procedures, as applicable.

What are we looking for in you?
- At least 5 years of experience in the succession and trust sector;
- Proven experience in the effective management of successor, trust, and power of attorney accounts is highly desired and considered an asset for this role;
- Professional experience working with high-net-worth clients and their wealth managers;
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills to identify and resolve various, complex, and ambiguous problems quickly and concretely;
- In-depth knowledge of laws related to succession, trusts, and power of attorney;
- Hold a university degree or equivalent;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Occasional travel within the province may be required.
Licenses and Certifications
- Member of the Society of Estate & Trust Practitioners (STEP), holding the TEP title.

Salary Range: $90,000 to $120,000 per year, plus competitive performance/encouragement bonuses.
The actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, internal equity, and other job requirements.
Due to the operational requirements of the role, the person holding this position will be required to communicate frequently with clients as well as teams, departments, and subsidiaries located outside of Quebec, including in other Canadian provinces, the United States, and the United Kingdom. As such, excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential, as well as advanced proficiency in French, both orally and in writing.
