Under the responsibility of the Maintenance Supervisor (Plant), you will be tasked with supervising a team of mechanical maintenance technicians and working closely with operations (plant), planning, and all departments of the site in a continuous effort to provide quality service to your clients. With your team, you will aim to achieve objectives in terms of costs, health and safety at work, environmental respect, and organizational development. Your team works to ensure quality service, optimize equipment, support and improve and maximize production, while respecting the environment.
Your impact
- Support the business needs of the company: increase in equipment availability, improvement in safety and environmental performance, overtime tracking, maintenance and operation cost tracking, and inventory tracking;
- Plan, organize, direct, and control the maintenance operations of the plant including crushing circuits, overpressure, and train loading;
- Create, revise, and update critical task analyses;
- Promote and participate in continuous improvement in health and safety and the environment according to the company's policies;
- Validate the work prepared by planning and assign work orders to employees;
- Support planning for obtaining labor and material estimates required for the execution of the work order (BT);
- Manage emergencies and unplanned work (schedule breakdowns) with the coordinator, including parts and labor;
- Find solutions to execute unplanned work effectively;
- Return unused parts from kits removed;
- Provide resource availability to the scheduler for schedule preparation;
- Ensure that scheduled tasks are prioritized to achieve established targets;
- Lead a daily "toolbox" meeting to sensitize your team members to the SST risks associated with the day's work, present the results of the previous day's production, and distribute the work orders for the day.
Control the execution of work
- Visit the work sites and check the inspection notebooks before the task;
- Validate work methods, SST control means, cleanliness, and the environment;
- Ensure that information related to the tracking of completed work is recorded in the work orders and the confirmation of execution time once completed;
- Determine and have maintenance procedures created for repetitive/critical work and solicit your team's participation to improve them;
- Supervise the work of contractors who will be scheduled by your planner;
- Act as a "coach" for your team: inform, clarify, measure, and control;
- Participate in daily and weekly meetings related to the work management process;
- Participate in the monthly "Backlog" review led by the maintenance planner;
- Attend major shutdown meetings led by the major shutdown planner;
- Conduct monthly health and safety meetings and involve your team members;
- Participate in the hiring, evaluation, promotion, and disciplinary measures of your team's employees.
What you need to excel
- A college diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience in the field of industrial mechanics. Any relevant professional training will be considered;
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in supervisory positions;
- Experience in managing and supervising contractors (an asset);
- Very good knowledge of computer systems and use of GMAO;
- A valid driver's license – Class 5;
- Good knowledge of the English language (an asset);
- Physical capabilities required for the position.
