ACVSAD-2026-1025 Daily Operator

Under the authority of his/her manager, the person holding the position performs various tasks involving the operation and use of motorized equipment and vehicles other than those used by the operator.

The person holding the position is responsible for driving and operating the vehicle and/or equipment assigned to them carefully and completing, within the best possible timeframe and according to established rules, the various tasks that may be assigned to them.

The person holding the position may also be called upon to work alone or with other employees as a daily worker, performing various tasks.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform road maintenance, repair, and construction work on the pavement in all seasons and all types of pavement improvements
• Carry out, using the appropriate equipment, various tasks such as digging, profiling, filling, leveling, and loading material (earth, snow, gravel, etc.) for maintenance, signage, landscaping, and construction work
• Perform operations such as clearing, spreading, blowing, and de-icing during snow removal activities within the city's territory
• Clear the pavement of snow that obstructs it, spread, de-ice streets, and level, profile, and excavate to maintain and construct roads or for various terrain improvements
• Ensure the daily maintenance of the machinery and perform routine checks
• Perform the required periodic inspections on certain components and perform basic maintenance
• Notify the immediate supervisor of any anomalies or defects
• Participate in the development and implementation of procedures, tools, and new work methods arising from their area of responsibility
• Perform various manual tasks related to the team's work or, as needed, individual tasks when the operator's task does not require all of their time
• Drive carefully and in accordance with the Highway Safety Code, the vehicle assigned to them, ensure its proper functioning, perform routine maintenance, keep it in a clean condition, and perform security patrols according to the city's requirements
• Complete all tasks of the daily worker position
• Complete any other tasks requested by the supervisor in connection with the position

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Hold a valid driver's license issued by the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) of class 3 with the F endorsement
• High school diploma (grade 12) or equivalent recognized by the Ministry of Education
• Have at least 6 months of relevant experience related to the position

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Possess good knowledge of the driving and operation of the vehicles or motorized equipment concerned, their functioning, their capacities and limits, their routine maintenance, and their mechanisms
• Skill in driving and effectively operating the motorized equipment concerned
• Skill in maintaining the equipment in good condition, as well as performing maintenance and minor adjustments
• Demonstrate tact and diplomacy
• Ability to work in a team and demonstrate versatility
• Strong concern for the knowledge and application of workplace safety measures
• Good physical condition
• Ability to interpret diagrams, simple sketches, and understand directives
• Successful completion of pre-employment tests for the operation of various motorized equipment
• A Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in construction equipment is an asset
• A valid driver's license allowing the driving and operation of the concerned vehicle category issued by the province of Quebec (Class 1) is an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Hourly rate according to the current collective agreement for municipal employees: $25.75 to $35.04/hour (scale 2026)
• 14% wage increase (to account for non-accessible social benefits)
• Temporary, variable hours (on rotation: day, evening, night, and weekends, depending on the season)
