What You’ll Do
- Write and maintain hardware documentation, including assembly instructions, integration guides, wiring diagrams references, and product specification sheets
- Write and maintain software documentation, including MachineLogic user guides, API references, release notes, and MachineBuilder how-tos
- Develop and curate customer-facing knowledge base and help center content to reduce support ticket volume and improve self-serve resolution
- Partner with Product Line Managers and Engineering teams to gather technical requirements and translate them into clear, well-structured documentation
- Establish and maintain documentation standards, style guides, and templates to ensure consistency across product lines
- Audit and update existing documentation to keep pace with new product launches, feature updates, and end-of-life transitions
- Create and maintain internal technical references and structure (e.g., safety and certification documentation, validation audit trails) in support of compliance and certification processes
- Work with UX/design and engineering teams to integrate diagrams, screenshots, and video content into documentation
- Gather and leverage feedback from customers, sales teams, application engineers, and support teams to continuously improve documentation quality and coverage
- Support product launches by ensuring documentation is ready and aligned with go-to-market timelines
- Manage the documentation content pipeline, prioritizing work across multiple product lines and stakeholders
- Collaborate with our User Education & Community Lead to develop user-centered documentation
What You Bring to the Team
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical writing, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience in an industrial/automated environment)
+ Experience translating complex technical concepts (mechanical, electrical, or software) into clear, structured documentation for diverse audiences — whether gained as a technical writer, engineer, or automation technician + Comfort working directly with engineers and product managers to extract and validate technical details + Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, across different product lines and stakeholders + Excellent written communication skills in English; ability to maintain a consistent tone and style across a large volume of content + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with tight deadlines, and good time management
Nice to Have
- Comfort with AI/LLM tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) and willingness to develop skills to accelerate writing, editing, and research as part of the documentation process
- Experience with API documentation and developer-facing content
- Familiarity with documentation tools and platforms (e.g., Confluence, Doc360, GitBook, or similar) is a plus, but not required
- Experience with diagramming, screenshot, or video tools (e.g., Figma, Snagit, Camtasia)
