Summary

We are looking for a highly qualified Technical Architect II to support the evolution, automation, and reliability of Bell's cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing large-scale physical server (bare metal) environments that form the foundation of our essential cloud services.

You will contribute to infrastructure standardization, operational efficiency improvement through automation using Python and Ansible, as well as security, performance, and scalability of physical server platforms. Working in an Agile and DevOps environment, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, act as a mentor to technical specialists, and participate in delivering innovative, resilient infrastructure solutions tailored to future needs.

The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in Linux system administration, extensive experience in data center operations, and a genuine passion for automation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Standards and Evaluation

+ Implement and standardize our bare metal server infrastructure solutions to ensure scalable, reliable, and highly performant foundations for our cloud services.

+ Evaluate technical requirements and feasibility of incoming bare metal requests, ensuring resource optimization and compliance with our standards.

+ Implement and maintain rigorous server hardening (hardening) for bare metal servers through advanced configuration management, access control, and encryption.

+ Assess, plan, and coordinate critical software and firmware updates, and advise the team on security patches and performance optimizations.

• Automation and Operational Excellence

+ Develop and implement automation of repetitive tasks using scripting languages (Python, Bash) and automation tools (Ansible) to streamline operations.

+ Configure, monitor, and optimize the health and performance of cloud physical servers (such as HPE, DELL, Cisco & Supermicro).

+ Diagnose and resolve complex software issues, hardware failures, kernel panics, and system performance degradation.

+ Ensure all bare metal deployments meet regulatory requirements and internal governance policies.

+ Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations and procedures to empower the team and ensure business continuity.

• Mentoring and Collaboration

+ Mentor and provide technical support to a team of two technical support specialists in an agile and dynamic environment.

+ Collaborate closely with vendors and internal teams to deliver effective support solutions and contribute to problem resolution.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Science
• Five to ten years of technical and operational IT experience
• Strong knowledge of physical servers and data center management
• Linux knowledge (intermediate to advanced)
• Experience in developing and updating Ansible strategy guides (playbooks), including Ansible Tower.
• Server and firmware management tools:

• + HPe OneView Global Dashboard
• + DellEMC OpenManage
• + DellEMC Support assist
• + Cisco Intersight
• Python/API (intermediate to advanced)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent time management skills and work ethic to handle multiple responsibilities
• Ability to establish relationships and work effectively with internal stakeholders and vendors
• Embrace change within the same team
• Willingness to work on call 24/7, rotating schedule
