Regional EHS Manager (Environmental Health & Safety) – Bilingual (French/English)

What you will do

In partnership with Regional leadership, you will direct the effective implementation of strategic EHS initiatives that build and sustain a culture of EHS excellence across the region. You will oversee and support the regional EHS function, validate compliance with requirements and objectives, and guide continuous improvement efforts.

You will also act as a key partner with Johnson Controls' Claims Management team, supporting all reporting requirements, serving as the primary point of contact between the injured worker and the compensation team, and ensuring continuous support throughout the entire claim lifecycle.

How you will succeed

• Lead the implementation of Johnson Controls' EHS strategy at your business unit level, collaborating with EHS teams to adjust approaches based on results.
• Raise awareness among regional managers and branch leadership teams about behaviors and practices that foster a high-performing EHS culture.
• Collaborate with EHS teams to identify incident trends and implement corrective measures at the regional level.
• Work with regional leadership to eliminate barriers and provide informed recommendations regarding corrective measures.
• Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and oversee the regional incident review process.
• Implement EHS programs and processes at all operational levels – region, business unit, branch, and project/site – as needed by the business.
• Provide targeted EHS training to employees at all levels based on identified needs and regulatory requirements.
• Finalize and communicate EHS performance indicators, including leadership practices in EHS and progress toward regional and corporate objectives.
• Conduct required audits and collaborate with leadership teams to develop, implement, and track improvement plans.
• Present and promote Johnson Controls' EHS programs and performance data to external clients, as required.
• Collaborate with service teams and site managers to maintain COR certification in Canada and ensure continuous compliance.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all first aid cases and worker compensation requests, ensuring timely reporting, documentation, and follow-up.
• Work closely with Johnson Controls' Claims Management team to manage the entire lifecycle of CNESST cases, including early intervention, temporary assignments, work return coordination, and case progression.

Requirements

• Proficiency in French and English, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Certificate or diploma in occupational health and safety, combined with a minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in occupational health and safety in industrial and/or construction environments within multisite settings.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong business sense, and analytical capabilities, with demonstrated experience influencing diverse stakeholder groups.
• Experience with COR audits in Canada and a good understanding of applicable Canadian environmental regulations.
• Solid knowledge of workers' compensation regimes, including claim management, early intervention, temporary assignments, and work return processes.
• Availability to travel 30% to 40% of the time across Quebec and Atlantic Canada to support regional operations and field activities.

Salary Range for Hire: $87,000–120,000 CAD (The salary will be determined by the candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity, and market alignment.)
