As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will perform tasks and provide services in the field of geotechnics. You will be responsible for geotechnical studies and analyses, the preparation and review of deliverables, as well as the review of design and construction, taking into account the general management objectives established for each project.

  • Manage and technically direct geotechnical studies, supervise activities within these studies, evaluate materials in the laboratory, and prepare and review technical reports
  • Review and supervise construction activities related to civil engineering and geotechnics
  • Evaluate site conditions and landslide risks, map, and produce reports
  • Manage geotechnical instruments: prescription, installation supervision, monitoring, and recording of results
  • Analyze geotechnical characteristics: slope stability, settlement, seepage, deformation, etc.
  • Conduct soil mechanics studies and classification activities, assess slope stability, and design reinforcement and support works
  • Ensure the technical quality of deliverables within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Collaborate and participate in technical discussions with team members and clients
  • Participate in the preparation and presentation process of service offers
  • Travel to project sites in Canada and, occasionally, abroad

Certifications and Requirements for the Position, in Brief

  • Bachelor's degree in sciences or master's degree in mining engineering, technical geology, or civil engineering with a concentration in geotechnics
  • Membership in the Order of Engineers of Quebec
  • Five (5) years or more of relevant professional experience in geotechnics
  • Excellent academic background and strong understanding of soil mechanics
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, technical writing experience, and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team
  • Proficiency in geotechnical design software (FLAC, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W); other geotechnical software, an asset
  • Ability and willingness to work on-site
  • Advanced English level to facilitate good collaboration with BBA offices and/or clients located in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally. The frequency of English usage may vary from occasional to daily depending on ongoing projects
  • Advanced French level to facilitate good collaboration with BBA offices and/or clients located in Quebec
