Company Description

The Coop Roue-Libre is a bicycle cooperative located in the Quebec region that promotes utility cycling and cooperative values. It provides a self-service bicycle mechanics workshop and free training for members (bicycle mechanics, winter cycling, cyclotourism). The Coop also offers services to businesses. Its mission is to make community members autonomous and responsible in the maintenance, repair, and use of their bicycle as a means of transportation. It aims to become a reference in utility cycling in Quebec.

The Community Bike Workshop Coordinator ensures the smooth operation of the workshop's daily activities and welcomes members. Tasks include organizing self-service time slots, supporting people in basic maintenance and repairs, and coordinating the training offered by the Coop. The person in this role manages the inventory of parts and tools, participates in scheduling planning, occasionally leads utility cycling awareness workshops, and collaborates with community and business partners. They also recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers and summer employees.

Other Responsibilities ● Ensure the proper functioning of the bicycle mechanics workshop, its cleanliness, and safety ● Recruit and train new volunteers ● Participate in the recruitment of employees ● Supervise and train employees ● Manage requests received from members or partners ● Manage material orders and inventory ● Participate in improving workshop processes and procedures ● Promote the workshop ● Organize and manage events ● Report to the Board of Directors

Depending on their interest and skills, the person may be called upon to contribute to: ● Develop the service offer to organizations (training program, mobile repair workshop, bicycle parking lot, and conferences) ● Represent the cooperative at various events ● Maintain the service offer to existing partners and develop new partnerships ● Develop training programs for diverse clienteles ● Conduct fundraising research (subsidies, competitions, partnerships, etc.)

Desired Profile ● Autonomy, initiative, resourcefulness, and organizational skills ● Ability to work in a team and good interpersonal skills ● Proficiency in Google Suite and other commonly used computer tools ● Interest in community development and the cooperative movement ● Proficiency in French ● Good knowledge of English (asset) ● Good knowledge of bicycle mechanics (asset) ● Being a full-time or part-time student (asset) ● Being eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs subsidy (asset)

Other Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of basic and intermediate bicycle mechanics, ability to diagnose common problems, and guide people in their repairs.
• Skills in coordination and organization (scheduling management, workshop logistics, inventory tracking, setting up training and community activities).
• Communication and community service skills (welcoming members, pedagogy, popularization, ability to work with diverse publics in an inclusive setting).
• Sense of responsibility and autonomy, ability to work in a cooperative and team, adherence to the values of solidarity and sustainable mobility.
• Appreciated assets: experience in an associative or cooperative setting, knowledge of utility and winter cycling, proficiency with basic digital tools (email, document management, social networks).
