Prevost, a division of Groupe Volvo Canada Inc., is currently looking for a Product Expert Engineer - Mechanical Systems. This position is located in Sainte-Claire.

What You Will Do

Our Product Expert Engineer - Mechanical Systems is responsible for and participates in the development of various product systems or components. They guide the design and are responsible for their technical integrity; advise the organization to maintain its technological leadership. They are the guardian of the product.

Some Responsibilities

  • Be the technical owner of the mechanical components and subsystems assigned to you.
  • Understand/document tolerance requirements to achieve installation repeatability in production.
  • Prepare, format, and communicate technical requirements to suppliers (specification sheets).
  • Lead technical meetings with designers and manufacturing engineers.
  • Define validation plans, conduct checks and tests to validate designs.
  • Actively communicate with suppliers to ensure optimal system integration.
  • Approve changes and new designs on systems.
  • Coach designer teams integrating systems on the vehicle.
  • Be the internal reference for the state of technology in this field.
  • Conduct technological surveillance, target opportunities.
  • Participate in defining the technical content of projects (technical requirements, validation, risks).
  • Guide and support development and production teams.
  • Plan the work of collaborators and/or external teams, taking into account deadlines.
  • Assess risks associated with development and plan alternatives to meet project expectations.
  • Participate in the technical analysis of failures observed in service and ensure the definition and implementation of relevant corrective actions.
  • Be the technical representative and guardian of systems under your responsibility to clients and suppliers.

Who Are You?

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Member in good standing of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ).
  • Relevant experience in product development.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems (Diesel and/or electric propulsion, hydraulics, pneumatics).
  • Interest in thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of geometric and dimensional tolerancing, DFM/DFA principles, and FMEA analyses.
  • Ability and interest in technical document writing: Specification sheets, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Excellent mastery of French and English, both spoken and written.
