The Role, Your Impact:
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Health and Safety Advisor plays a key role in developing and maintaining a strong health and safety culture at work. They act as a partner with managers and employees to promote prevention, reduce risks, and support continuous improvement in occupational health and safety practices. Specifically, you will contribute to the following challenges:
Develop a Prevention Culture: Promote the prevention aspect within the plant and ensure the implementation and follow-up of the plant's health and safety programs.
Identify Occupational Health and Safety Risks: Work collaboratively with all stakeholders (production, maintenance, employees, human resources, and union) to identify workplace accident and occupational disease risks.
Implement Sustainable Health and Safety Solutions: Propose effective interventions to achieve accident reduction goals, develop an annual action plan, and ensure its follow-up.
Ensure Constant Health and Safety Presence: Interact at all levels of the organization and be present on the production floor with employees to ensure active presence in operations, conduct inspections, and investigate accidents in collaboration with stakeholders. Be available to assist, when necessary, teams working on other shifts.
Transmit Health and Safety Knowledge: Develop adapted tools to sensitize, coach, involve, and advise all stakeholders and members of the health and safety committee on the importance of prevention.
Other Tasks: Coordinate and facilitate health and safety committee activities, maintain contact with the CNESST, and perform other tasks and responsibilities as required.
Your Qualifications for This Position: Education: University degree in health and safety or equivalent.
Experience: More than (5) years of relevant experience in a similar position in a unionized manufacturing environment.
Desired Qualities: Rigor, sense of priorities and organization, action and results-oriented, skilled in both technical and interpersonal aspects, communication and interpersonal relationship skills, positive leadership and mobilizing abilities.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, ability to identify and analyze risks, problem-solving skills, strong verbal and written communication skills.
