Information Technology Department NATURE OF WORK

Under the authority of the deputy director, the IT technician performs a set of technical tasks and activities related to the use and configuration of information systems (networks, computers, peripherals), as well as providing the necessary support to the users of the College.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to technical support requests received in person or by phone;
  • Evaluate and correct computer problems submitted to the Information Services Center (CSI) by users. Use the request management system (Octopus) for managing and processing requests;
  • Provide technical assistance and help with the use of technological tools, including but not limited to the Office suite software, to College users;
  • Install, update, and maintain workstations or other peripherals under their responsibility;
  • Use *System Center Configuration Manager* (SCCM) in an application deployment context;
  • Install and configure operating systems such as Windows 11;
  • Prepare images and set up microcomputer laboratories and portable computer parks;
  • Develop a software compatibility testing strategy and ensure the proper functioning and interoperability of installed software;
  • Monitor systems, ensure their proper functioning, and apply corrective measures to restore them in case of problems;
  • Perform routine updates;
  • Participate in technological infrastructure projects within multidisciplinary teams;
  • Participate in the evaluation of equipment, software, and operating systems to meet the College's technological needs;
  • Prepare and maintain documentation and operational procedures;
  • Keep the system inventory up to date;
  • Ensure, with other technicians and professionals, the smooth operation of the Service Desk;
  • Work in a team with professionals, technicians, and teachers on various projects and committees;
  • Perform, if necessary, any other related tasks.
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Hold a three-year college diploma in technical training with an appropriate field of specialization, such as Computer Science, or hold a diploma or certificate of studies whose equivalence is recognized by the competent authority.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Customer service orientation;
  • Autonomy and sense of organization;
  • Excellent ability to work in a team;
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft *System Center Configuration Manager* (SCCM) operating system and application deployment system;
  • Good knowledge of the Office suite software;
  • Knowledge of Apple products (aout).
  • REQUIRED TESTS
