Accounting Controller

Work Location: 100% on-site at Auberge West Brome

Responsibilities

Under the responsibility of the General Manager, your role will consist of coordinating, supporting, and performing various accounting and HR management activities.

Main Tasks

• Coordinate and support the work of accounting (sales, payables, reception/hospitality)
• Participate in the processing of accounts payable
• Assist the sales department in preparing group invoicing and ensure tracking of receivables and customer deposits
• Verify, control, and approve payroll
• Participate in the preparation of bank reconciliations
• Perform end-of-month and end-of-year accounting entries
• Analyze accounts and prepare monthly and annual financial reports
• Analyze discrepancies between actual results and budgets
• Validate and prepare a justification report for the presentation of financial statements
• Actively engage in any ad-hoc or recurring financial and/or legal matters
• Participate in HR management and compliance with legal requirements (wage equity, CNESST, workplace safety insurance)

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

• DEC or bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience
• 5 years of significant experience directly related to the position
• Experience in the hospitality and restaurant industry, an asset
• Demonstrated skills in information technology
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 (particularly Excel), point-of-sale systems, and common accounting software
• Strong communication and client-oriented skills
• High level of critical and analytical thinking
• Autonomy, resourcefulness, and sense of responsibility
• Versatility and varied interests
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously, resolve problems, and meet deadlines
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and thoroughness
• Leadership and team spirit
