This position is a combination of remote work and office presence. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers according to guidelines determined by the sector.
Your Mandate
Reporting to the first female director of Radio-Canada's television, your mandate involves managing all operations necessary to implement content from the original productions of Ici Télé, ARTV, and Explora channels.
Your mandate will require close collaboration with all sectors of Radio-Canada: TOU.TV, the digital sector, communications (social media, public relations, promotions), partnerships, sales, scheduling and broadcasting, business relations and administration, the regional sector, and technical production.
You will oversee the Culture, Variety, and Society team, including content heads in their roles and support their development.
Your Responsibilities:
Operational Management and Content Deployment
- Operations Coordination: Plan and oversee all original productions in the sector, ensuring project tracking with internal and external teams, producers, resource allocation, and schedule adherence until content delivery across all platforms (ICI Télé, ARTV, Explora, and TOU.TV).
- Maximizing Reach: Maximize content discoverability and engagement across various audiences on all platforms, as well as public attachment to the public broadcaster.
- Producer Relations: Support producers daily and at every stage of a project; from pitch, development, to broadcast. Ensure projects align with sector and Radio-Canada's mission.
- Intersectorial Collaboration: Bridge between key sectors of Radio-Canada: TOU.TV, the Digital Sector, Communications (social media, PR, promotions), Partnerships, Sales, Scheduling, Business Relations, Regions, and Technical Production to ensure smooth information flow.
- Digital Transition: Translate senior management directions into actionable plans to leverage television and content strengths across all platforms.
- Major Events Coordination: Coordinate major projects and international initiatives (e.g., Olympic Games, Eurovision contest) with close oversight of all teams.
- Institutional Compliance: Ensure production choices and processes rigorously reflect Radio-Canada's obligations to minority official language communities (CLOSM) and Indigenous community partners.
Team Management, Leadership, and Talent Development
- Team Leadership and Motivation: Lead and motivate the Culture, Variety, and Sports team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Supervision and Mentoring: Supervise content heads, support their daily roles, evaluate performance, and implement individual development plans to grow their responsibilities.
- Human Resources Management: Ensure fair labor relations in compliance with collective agreements and company policies in a unionized environment.
- Innovation Culture: Stimulate ideation, creative thinking, and innovation within teams to continuously adapt content offerings to new digital realities.
Your Profile
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a leadership and team management role;
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or a combination of academic training and experience deemed relevant;
- Excellent knowledge of the media industry, television production, independent producers, and industry practices;
- Knowledge of unionized environments;
- Excellent positive leadership, collaborative problem-solving, and communication skills;
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills with employees, colleagues, and industry members;
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic environment;
- Expertise in television content to meet the needs of French-speaking audiences across the country;
- Excellent influence, innovation, and creative thinking skills;
- Excellent organizational and planning skills;
- Discretion and integrity;
- Fluent French;
- Good English knowledge (bilingual).
