Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a temporary maintenance supervisor for the maintenance team.

Tasks and Responsibilities of the Maintenance Supervisor - Temporary:

  • Manage employees under your responsibility (unionized)
  • Ensure compliance with the collective agreement and the activities that support it
  • Distribute tasks, evaluate performance, integrate, and develop employees professionally
  • Plan, prioritize, organize, and supervise the execution of maintenance work, planning and optimization of major shutdowns, and implementation of improvement projects, in collaboration with the engineering department
  • Monitor the maintenance service budget and participate in capital expenditure projects (Capex)
  • Estimate work time, lead teams, and control results
  • Determine the causes of recurring and/or major breakdowns to develop and implement necessary corrective measures
  • Implement and control the execution of preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal availability of fixed equipment in your sector
  • Supervise and manage the execution of improvement projects for existing equipment in collaboration with the engineering department
  • Control and document work orders, make purchase requests, and perform all tasks required by the role in SAP
  • Control and document work orders and other SAP transactions to maintain a good information system
  • Participate in weekly planning to optimize work efficiency
  • Participate in sector and management system audits
  • Perform all other related tasks

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Make health and safety a daily priority;
  • Promote and ensure leadership in health and safety in the plant;
  • Train staff to perform their tasks safely;
  • Analyze, develop, and promote safe work methods;
  • Ensure the implementation of established programs (accident investigation and analysis, observations, corrective actions, preventive inspections, etc.);
  • Identify standards and procedures to apply during annual shutdowns;
  • Wear mandatory PPE;
  • Responsible for performing all health and safety tasks related to your job.

Environment and Quality Responsibilities

  • Consider applicable environmental variables for sector activities;
  • Adopt a behavior that respects quality concepts and follow procedures, laws, and regulations governing the smooth operation of the cement plant;
  • Participate in various implemented programs and follow applicable procedures, laws, and regulations.
  • Candidate Profile

Academic Education / Work Experience

  • DEC in maintenance mechanics or DEP in mechanics.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the manufacturing industry (medium size); experience in heavy industry is a strong asset
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in supervising personnel in a unionized environment
  • Experience in preventive maintenance management
  • Experience in an ISO 9001 and 14002 quality assurance system environment

Skills (Specific Knowledge, Abilities, and Behavior)

  • Thorough and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Team player with transparency and strong human resource management skills
  • Proficiency in software (Office Suite) and computerized maintenance management systems. SAP (an asset)
  • Availability for overtime during annual shutdowns and major breakdowns
  • Availability to be part of the shift team (7-day period, approximately 3 months)
