The successful candidate for this role will interact with clients and third parties who only understand and communicate in English. This role also requires the candidate to easily communicate with colleagues across our offices in Canada, where English is the primary language. Given that we estimate that more than 60% of the tasks related to this role must be performed in English, the linguistic requirements for this role are a high level of written and oral comprehension, as well as a beginner level of oral expression.
We are seeking a bilingual coordinator for diversity and inclusion to join our team at our Toronto office. The successful candidate will have at least 1 to 3 years of experience in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) or human resources. They will be responsible for implementing inclusion programs, managing community partnerships, and our corporate sponsorship program.

- Working closely with the Client and Markets team to plan and implement diversity and inclusion events and initiatives for clients.
- Coordinating and assisting with communication and logistics for events, celebrations, and internal and external campaigns.
- Contributing to the planning and implementation of programs and policies aimed at strengthening the firm's global DEI capabilities, including those aimed at eliminating structural barriers, complying with laws, certification requirements, and other obligations, promoting best practices in DEI, and strengthening accountability for the Inclusion Priority initiative across the firm.
- Supporting the Professional Resources Specialist and Human Resources in implementing programs for students, lawyers, and staff, to enrich their experience within the firm and promote inclusion.
- Working closely with the Professional Resources team to develop attractive programs for students and create opportunities to promote the "Inclusion Priority" brand in law schools.
- Strengthening connections with students and firm members involved in the Inclusion Priority initiative by organizing social activities and creating opportunities for enriching relationships.
- Working closely with the Manager and Specialist to build relationships with student affinity groups, as well as with summer interns and co-op students, by contributing to the organization of social activities and events for students.
- Contributing to internal and external training programs.
- Developing initial internal and external communications for the Inclusion Priority office (important days, internal executive emails, MT community, Inclusion Priority content for espresso, speeches for executives, lawyers, and staff).
- Coordinating and assisting with communication and logistics for internal and external communications (social media, emails to all firm members, invitations to events).
- Tracking data on participation in action group activities, inclusion, and the impact created by these groups.
- Presenting the Inclusion Priority strategy and action group strategy to presidents and new members of each action group.
- Assisting in the organization of action group meetings and discussions.
- Coordinating and assisting with communication and logistics for the Inclusion Priority committee and action groups.
- Working closely with the Specialist and Manager, Inclusion Priority to contribute to the management and tracking of community partnership agreements.
- Participating in meetings with community partners to assess the impact and progress of partnerships.
- Gaining direct knowledge of the work of the Inclusion and Community Engagement team and the firm's priorities by participating in meetings and developing and tracking correspondence.
- Coordinating and assisting with communication and logistics for the development and implementation of pro bono service programs, partnerships, and sponsorship requests.
- Assisting the Principal Director in drafting responses to client RFPs, questionnaires that clients request us to complete, and regular and ad-hoc reporting requirements, including those related to demographic data.
- Coordinating and assisting with communication and logistics for the compilation of various reporting requirements.
- Assisting the Specialist and Manager in the management of all resources related to the Inclusion Priority initiative and updating related data.
- Providing support for the administration and operation of the Inclusion Priority office.
- Using existing and new technological tools to increase efficiency and track tasks.
- Contributing to the management of the team's budget, including tracking sponsorships and expenses.
- Receiving and evaluating donation requests from the community and responding to them; and coordinating with the finance team to ensure payments are made.
- Participating in the development of the reconciliation action plan, in collaboration with external providers and the Indigenous Legal and Strategic Advisor.
- Participating in the management of pro bono projects, including collaborating with the pro bono team for the selection, allocation, and tracking of projects.
- The ideal candidate will stand out with the following profile:
- A post-secondary degree or certificate in human resources, equity, diversity, and inclusion (DEI), or administration is desirable, but not mandatory.
- At least 1 to 3 years of professional experience in a relevant field.
- Experience in one or all of the following areas would be an asset:
- + Diversity and inclusion initiatives or corporate social responsibility
- + Communications, marketing, or brand promotion across various social media platforms
- + Project management tools and methodologies
- + Work in a legal or professional services environment
- Bilingualism (French and English) required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and PDF editing software (Adobe Acrobat Pro). Ability to learn other firm-specific software.
