Description

SMS is looking for a Service Supervisor, Underground to lead and support underground service operations in Val-d’Or, Quebec. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day service activities, supporting technicians, ensuring safe and efficient execution of work, driving customer satisfaction, and contributing to the growth and success of SMS Equipment’s Underground Hard Rock business.

Work Location: Val-d’Or, QC.

Salary: $110,000 - $125,000 annually plus incentive.

Work Arrangement: Fixed on site – working from the office or customer site each day.

Schedule: Monday to Friday.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and coordinate the day-to-day activities of underground service technicians, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to established quality standards.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee field service, assembly, warranty, and repair activities within the underground business.
  • Support technician development by ensuring compliance with safety, technical training, and operating procedure requirements.
  • Monitor work execution, resource utilization, equipment performance, and scheduling to achieve operational objectives and customer commitments.
  • Review service work, quotations, work-in-progress activities, and warranty documentation to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment performance and technical issues.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer experience, operational effectiveness, and service delivery.
  • Support warranty administration processes and maintain clear communication with branch, corporate, and OEM partners.
  • Monitor service performance metrics and contribute to action plans that support operational and business objectives.
  • Foster a safe, professional, and collaborative work environment while providing leadership, coaching, and direction to the team.

What You Bring

The successful candidate will bring demonstrated leadership experience and previous underground mining experience. They will possess a strong understanding of underground mining operations, safety requirements, and the ability to lead teams in a dynamic service environment.

Other requirements include:

  • Bilingual communication skills (English and French).
  • Experience supervising or leading employees in an industrial, mining, or heavy equipment environment.
  • Strong focus on safety, risk recognition, and safe work practices in underground operations.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities while supporting customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with a focus on execution and results.
  • Experience working with maintenance, service, or repair operations within mining or heavy equipment environments.
