Youth Intervention Worker

The project aims to establish a strategic mandate for youth crime prevention in the territory of Repentigny. It primarily targets young people aged 12 to 17 who attend secondary schools and the surrounding public spaces, where there is an increase in conflicts, antisocial behavior, bullying, and gang-related risks.

Under the supervision of the project coordination, the person holding the position ensures a proactive presence among the youth to prevent risky behaviors, foster meaningful connections, and intervene early with vulnerable young people.

The youth worker primarily operates in the areas surrounding secondary schools, parks, businesses, and youth gathering places, in collaboration with the community partners.

Main Responsibilities

• Ensure regular and proactive presence in the areas frequented by young people.
• Build and maintain trust with young people through a voluntary, respectful, and non-judgmental approach.
• Identify young people with risk factors or living in vulnerable situations.
• Conduct individual interventions for prevention, support, and awareness.
• Intervene using the harm reduction approach and promote the autonomy of the individuals encountered.
• Accompany young people in their procedures and refer them to appropriate resources, if necessary.
• Collaborate closely with secondary schools, the Repentigny City Police Service (SPVR), community organizations, and network partners.
• Participate in clinical meetings, consultation committees, and training sessions.
• Monitor interventions and compile project statistical data.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of intervention practices.
• Attend training sessions and clinical supervision.
• Perform any other tasks related to the project and the implementing organization.

Desired Profile

• Experience working with adolescents or in community intervention.
• Excellent relational skills.
• Ability to intervene in crisis situations.
• Autonomy, judgment, and ability to work independently in the field.
• Ease of working in partnership with different actors.
• Good writing skills and proficiency in computer tools.
• DEC or bachelor's degree in specialized education, social work, psychoeducation, criminology, or any other relevant field (an asset).
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Fixed-term contract of two (2) years, linked to the project's completion.

Full-time, 32 hours/week x 52 weeks.

Work Schedule and Hours

Monday to Friday (adjustable hours according to special projects and intervention locations).

Day and evening shifts.
