Financial Controller Tasks

  • Oversee financial reporting and ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
  • Aid in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Manage cash flow and treasury operations.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls and risk management practices.
  • Support audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Provide financial insights to senior leadership for strategic planning.
  • Drive process improvements.
  • Record daily financial transactions (sales, expenses, bank transactions).
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • Prepare and process invoices, payments, and receipts.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
  • Generate basic financial reports (e.g., income statements, balance sheets).
  • Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Fluent in both French and English (written and spoken).
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks is required, as it will be the company's primary accounting software. Experience with other accounting software, such as Sage, is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a small business environment with limited supervision, demonstrating the ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze and manage financial data.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage and lead a finance team.
  • Experience in audit coordination and compliance reporting.
  • Work Location: In person
