General Information
The Centre de gestion de l'équipement roulant (CGER) is a general direction that falls under the Sub-ministry for Support to Exploitation and Civil Security (SMSESC) of the Ministry of Transportation and Sustainable Mobility (the Ministry). The organization's mission is to provide public organizations in Quebec with complete fleet management services, according to the best business practices, in an optimization of resources and sustainable development perspective. The CGER's clientele includes ministries, cities and municipalities, public organizations, the health and social services network, the education network, and the federal government.
The CGER relies on the collaboration of approximately 400 employees to fulfill its mission and has a network of 57 mechanics workshops spread across the entire Quebec territory. It manages a fleet of over 10,000 vehicles and related equipment.

- Prepare and assemble new vehicles (electrical wiring, installation of various components);
- Repair and maintain mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems;

- Perform calibration and troubleshooting of equipment;
- Conduct inspection work and detect defects;

- Salary:
29.85 $ per hour * A retention and attraction bonus of 15% will be added to the salary.
The salary scale can be viewed on the website of the Secretary of the Treasury Board. At the time of hiring, the step will be determined based on the candidate's experience.

The Candidate Must Meet the Job Requirements
- Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) with specialization in heavy vehicle mechanics, construction equipment mechanics, automotive mechanics, or another relevant specialization, or hold a certificate of studies whose equivalence is recognized by the competent authority;
AND
- Have 2 years of experience in the performance of the duties of the Mechanical Maintenance Assistant class, in this title, or in an equivalent title.
OR
- Have 4 years of relevant experience in the maintenance and repair of motorized equipment and auxiliary equipment as an automotive mechanic, diesel mechanic, heavy machinery mechanic, or in an equivalent title.
Each block of 2 years of missing relevant experience can be compensated by one year of additional relevant education, at a level higher than the minimum education required for admission to the employment class.
An ASP or relevant DEP with 600 to 900 hours can compensate for one year of missing relevant experience.
An ASP or relevant DEP with at least 900 hours can compensate for two years of missing relevant experience.
Additionally, the candidate must
- Possess a Class 5 driver's license
- Possess Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, or a work permit issued by the competent federal authority to occupy a position in the public service of Quebec;
- Have appropriate French language skills for the functions.
