The Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough is one of the largest boroughs in the City of Montreal. The borough is rapidly transforming with major projects and construction sites such as; the developments of the Triangle Namur, the Hippodrome, the extension of Boulevard Cavendish and the Turcot interchange project. The Road Maintenance Division of the borough is responsible for ensuring adequate maintenance of municipal infrastructure.
Your Mandate
Under the supervision of the head of the Road Maintenance and Parks Division, you will perform various technical tasks in support of operations related to the verification, control of work, and smooth running of activities in the field of road maintenance, snow removal, cleaning, and parks.
More specifically, you will:
- write and verify work specifications, technical estimates, statistics and administrative documents (requests for proposals, credit votes) and plans related to various projects;
- study and develop, based on travel reports, recommendations to optimize the quality of snow travel and work; examine the necessary modifications and formulate appropriate recommendations, in order to apply them concretely;
- perform calculations or forecasts of salt, sand, stone, abrasives, surface area for improving cleaning and snow removal travel paths, the amount of materials needed for operations, preliminary cost estimates of projects, detailed estimates as work progresses or tool rental and material resistance;
- verify and control on-site the qualitative aspect of work performed in-house or under contract by public utility services; ensure they are executed according to approved plans, estimates, work specification clauses, regulations, etc.; coordinate, if necessary, the work of construction supervision;
- measure, on the ground, the speeds of manual and mechanical street sweeping, the effective lengths of travel paths, note the difficulties related to them and study the useful modifications and use the various computer tools (GOGÉO, GDT, SIGS) in order to perform follow-ups, data collection and corrections;
- assist foremen in the handling and processing of requests;
- monitor the requirements related to the GMR of multiple collections in the borough and citizen requests.
DESIRED PROFILE
- College diploma (DEC) in civil engineering or any other relevant field
- 2 years of experience related to the responsibilities of the position, including verification and control of work in the field of road maintenance, project estimation, and work planning (including cleaning and snow removal work)
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Attestation of the General Health and Safety Course on Construction Sites (ASP)
