Senior UX/UI Designer, Mobile Applications
TechnologieDescription
Overview
Groupe Dynamite Inc. (GDI) is a Montreal-based public company that owns omnichannel brands that design and distribute women's fashion that is accessible and cutting-edge since 1975.
Our mission, "INSPIRE YOU TO BE YOURSELF", comes to life through the GARAGE and DYNAMITE brands, and underscores GDI's importance of being customer-focused, a key element in its long-standing success as a leading retailer in North America.
Today, GDI operates nearly 300 stores across Canada and the United States, as well as rapidly growing native mobile app experiences and shopping destinations at garageclothing.com and dynamiteclothing.com. Job Summary:
Join GDI's Digital Design and Product team as a Senior Product Designer, Mobile Applications. In this role, you will act as the lead UX designer and strategic partner for our native iOS and Android apps for the GARAGE and DYNAMITE brands.
You will go beyond traditional e-commerce user interfaces to foster app-centric innovation, using native gestures, micro-interactions, personalization, and customer psychology to enhance engagement and conversion. You will not just execute briefs, but challenge them using analytical data, conduct competitive research, facilitate ideation sessions, and ensure end-to-end quality, documentation, and accessibility compliance (ADA).
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic and Data-Driven UX Leadership: Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Leads, and Customer Information team members to provide data-backed insights to inform the mobile user experience roadmap before it's written. Conduct quarterly competitive analyses and map customer profiles for all brands and regions (Canada vs. United States) to identify funnel weaknesses and propose high-impact A/B tests.
- Native Mobile Innovation and Ideation: Implement true native app design models (gestures, haptics, bottom navigation architectures, vertical storytelling, and immersive product cards) rather than replicating mobile web experiences. Lead cross-functional brainstorming and ideation sessions to differentiate our native app platforms.
- Seamless Transitions and Technical Expertise: Provide fully annotated, ready-to-use Figma handoff documents for developers containing fully annotated interaction flows, responsive layout rules, micro-interaction specifications, empty states, and exhaustive edge-case logic.
- Visual and Full-Cycle Quality Assurance: Ensure end-to-end product quality. Conduct rigorous visual and functional quality control for all versions and user journeys to ensure production releases match design intent and meet high-quality standards.
- Design System and Scalability: Contribute to our design system by proposing reusable, developer-ready UI components, accessibility guidelines, and interaction rules, adhering to the principle that unique solutions should produce scalable and reusable patterns.
- Accessibility and Legal Compliance: Integrate Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG/ADA) directly into native app components and handoff documents to ensure seamless and compliant experiences across all flows.
- Operational Leadership and Mentorship: Promote operational transparency, audit speed, and set the example in cross-functional groups by offering evaluation ideas and acting as an empathetic and collaborative feedback group for product managers, engineers, and brand partners.
Skills
- At least 5 years of professional experience in product design (UX/UI), with a particular emphasis on native mobile apps (iOS and Android) in a high-volume retail or e-commerce environment;
- An exceptional portfolio demonstrating your ability to innovate on native mobile, master complete design systems, conduct in-depth edge-case analysis, and justify product decisions backed by data (A/B tests, user studies, conversion metrics);
- Advanced proficiency in Figma, component libraries, design system management, auto-layout, and variable modes, and developer handoff processes;
- Deep understanding of iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Android Material Design, as well as native gestures, micro-interactions, and mobile navigation paradigms;
- Proven track record of strategic partnership: Experience working with Product Managers, Developers, and Marketing Specialists to challenge preconceived ideas, translate data into hypotheses, and advocate for UX decisions;
- Solid knowledge of mobile accessibility standards (ADA/WCAG), AI tools, and experience integrating them into native user flows;
- Bachelor's degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction, graphic design, or equivalent practical experience.
At GDI, you will be part of a rapidly growing company that understands the importance of investing in its employees and offers:
- A comprehensive compensation package including performance-based bonuses;
- A collective retirement savings plan with equal employer contribution;
- A flexible group insurance plan offering customized coverage to meet your needs;
- Employee discounts at Garage and Dynamite;
- Exclusive and private sample sales;
- A flexible vacation policy;
- and much more!
GDI has been repeatedly recognized as one of Montreal's best employers and one of Canada's best employers for young people. Our Promise:
The days will follow, but they will never be the same, as we strive to always do better than yesterday. We are committed to upholding employment equity principles.
Selected candidates will be contacted for an interview.
