JOB OVERVIEW

The Propulsion Engineer provides technical engineering support for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities of CFM56 engines. This role works closely with production teams to address technical issues, support engine disassembly and assembly activities, and handle technical discrepancies, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and technical requirements.

The Propulsion Engineer contributes to maintaining engine integrity, operational efficiency, and delivery timelines by supporting technical investigations, MRB (Material Review Board) actions, and technical documentation throughout engine operations.

To support our operations, we are looking for candidates interested in day, evening, or weekend shifts. These schedules offer stability and can provide greater flexibility during the week.

  • Day shift: Monday to Friday, approximately 7 am to 3 pm
  • Evening shift: Monday to Thursday, approximately 12 pm to 10 pm, offering a long weekend each week
  • Weekend shift: Friday to Sunday, approximately 5 am to 5 pm, with 12-hour shifts. Weekend team members are paid for a full 40-hour week, even if fewer hours are scheduled.

Availability and scheduling preferences will be discussed during the recruitment process to ensure the best possible fit between the candidate and the team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical technical support to production teams during CFM56 engine disassembly and assembly activities
  • Collaborate with propulsion engineers within the production-oriented delivery cell (POD) by offering technical support on findings, scope adjustments, and daily technical questions
  • Support the review and resolution of MRB (Material Review Board) and engineering findings, considering operational schedules and cycle time goals
  • Communicate technical issues clearly and professionally with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), as well as with internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in investigations related to warranty, quality, or performance events, and contribute to the writing of technical reports and root cause analyses, as needed
  • Ensure that work order scope (WOS) documentation is compliant with FTAI's technical specifications
  • Work closely with engineering configuration and methods teams during publication reviews and PMA/DER-related activities
  • Contribute to the development of engineering procedures and technical instructions (TI)
  • Support the evaluation and preparation of engineering disposition procedures (EDP)

Qualifications

  • University degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline
  • Approximately five (5) years of relevant technical experience in engine maintenance, repair, or overhaul, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Functional knowledge of applicable regulations (FAR, CAR), service bulletins (SB), and airworthiness directives (AD)
  • Experience with ATA 72 engine components, including familiarity with limited-life parts (LLP), fan case, compressors, turbines, exhaust systems, line replaceable units (LRU), and accessories
  • Knowledge of aeronautical propulsion systems and technical troubleshooting activities
  • Experience in test cells is considered an asset
  • Holds, is eligible, or wishes to advance towards a certification or title such as Propulsion Design Engineer (DE/DES), TC delegate, FAA, DAR, or DER (an asset, not mandatory)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable contributing to technical investigations and analyses with appropriate supervision
  • Ability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating within a team
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office tools
  • Functional French and English
